How to Navigate the OTTP Website: The Navigation Menus-
To search the site, use the top and bottom navigation
menus. Put your mouse arrow over the name of the page you would like to
visit and click that page name. To search for parts, use the left
navigation menu. Put your mouse arrow over the name of the general
category of manufacturer and it will bring up a subcategory list (if
applicable). Then put your mouse arrow over the subcategory you would like
to search on and click. Parts Searches-
There are three different ways to search for parts on the
OTTP website. The results of the search
will give you a list of part numbers, their descriptions, what
car/loco/accessory it fits, a price, a picture of the item so you can check to
see if that is what you are looking for and an “add to cart button” (see Online
ordering and “my shopping cart”). (We
are working hard on getting pictures for all our parts, but at present, we only
have pictures for about 4000 of them. We
are updating as quickly as we can.) The
first is by part number. For this type of
search you would have to know the part number (or at least a partial part
number) for what you are looking for. To
perform a “search by part number”, click on the link for your desired
manufacturer on the left menu bar. The search
page that results will default to “search by part number”. If
you would prefer to search by fits or by description, there are blue links to
those search pages below the white text box. Click in the white box and
type your part number (or partial part number). Click
the gray “Search Button” to the right of the white box.
The search will return a list of all the part numbers that contain
everything you typed in, so if you aren’t completely sure of your part
number, it is better to only put in partial numbers. The
second is a search by what we call “fits”.
This means, enter the number of the car, loco, or accessory you are
trying to find parts for, and the search results will contain all the parts we
have for that particular piece. To perform a “search by fits”, click on the
link for your desired manufacturer on the left menu bar. Choose the “Search
by FITS” link under the white text box. This takes you
to the "search by fits" page for your manufacturer.
Click in the white box and type your car, loco, or accessory number
(check the faq’s page for help on how to figure out what it is that you have).
Click the gray “Search Button” to the right of the white box.
The search will return a list of all the part numbers that fit the
car, loco, or accessory you typed in. The
third is by description of the part you are looking for.
To perform a “search by description”, click on the link for your
desired manufacturer on the left menu bar. Choose
the “Search by Description” link under the white text box. This
takes you to the "search by description" page for your manufacturer.
Click in the white box and type your description.
Click the gray “Search Button” to the right of the white box.
The search will return a list of all the part numbers that description
column or fits column contain everything you typed in, the more
specific you are in your descriptions, the narrower your search results set will
be. Remember, every word you type in the description you search on has to
be in our description of a part in order for it to be returned to you.
Please leave out unnecessary words such as "the, in, a, etc..."
because we might not have them in our descriptions. Online
ordering and “my shopping cart”: When
you search for parts through the “Parts Search” pages (see parts searches),
the resulting set of part numbers will have an “add to cart button” next to
each individual part. If you find the
part you are looking for and you want to place an order, type in the quantity
you desire and press the “add to cart” button. The default quantity is 1. To view
the items in your shopping cart, visit the Shopping Cart page by clicking on the
"Shopping Cart" link in the left menu bar. To change the quantity of any item in your shopping cart, just put the corrected
quantity in the white box after the price columns and press the update
button. When you are done shopping, go to the shopping cart page,
look over your order and press the checkout button, it will guide you through
the ordering process
FAQ’s
page: If all else fails and
you still have a question, visit the FAQ’s page by clicking on it in the top
or bottom menu bars. It has the answers
to many hobby-specific questions as well as more detailed information on
ordering from OTTP offline.
